On the 16th of September HabWAVE’s team returned to the campaign’s fixed station, located at about 30 km offshore and at about 100 m depth, where a mooring with two ADCPs had been previously deployed (one upward measuring currents, one downward measuring sediment dynamics).
Similarly to the first outing to this station, field work comprised water sampling, collection of surface sediments, and CTD successive (“yo-yo”) surveys. There is a possibility that this time around the team has successfully captured the signature of an internal wave: preliminary results showed a fluctuation of the thermocline’s depth between consecutive “yo-yo” measurements. The team has also observed the presence of dinoflagellates in the samples.
Here are some photos provided by the team on board.
